Sand-water and muddy-water systems need more than a large diameter. Particle size, solids concentration, pressure, route movement, installation duration and connection design all influence whether the best starting point is a flexible rubber discharge hose, a fixed PE100 HDPE pipe or a combination of both.
'Dirty water' can describe very different duties. Light muddy water from a sump may carry fine suspended solids. Sand-water from washing or alluvial mining can contain larger, denser particles. A higher-solids slurry may create significantly greater wear and require a different velocity, wall construction and inspection plan.
Record solids concentration, maximum particle size, particle shape, density where known, fluid temperature and whether solids settle during shutdown. These inputs matter more than a generic label such as heavy duty.
CARCHARTECH's textile cord reinforced rubber sand discharge hose is designed for positive-pressure transfer of sand-water mixtures, muddy water and project water. The natural-rubber-based body provides flexibility for routing between pumps, rigid pipelines and temporary sections, while multiple textile plies support pressure retention.
The current range covers 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 inch. Working pressure is model-specific: 75 psi for the 2 inch model, 180 psi for the 3 inch model, and 150 psi for the selected 2.5, 4, 5, 6 and 8 inch models. The 2 to 6 inch models use 21 m reference lengths; the 8 inch model is a 1 m heavy section.
This is a discharge family. A suction application requires a verified suction-rated construction and vacuum performance. Do not assume that a thick or steel-reinforced appearance is enough proof.
For a fixed or long-term route, solid-wall PE100 HDPE pipe can provide a non-rusting, pressure-rated trunk line with a smooth bore. The current CARCHARTECH PN10/SDR17 reference covers OD110, OD140, OD180 and OD225 mm in 5.8 m straight lengths, all rated PN10 / 10 bar.
The line can use butt fusion, electrofusion or flanged transitions according to the project design. Route preparation, support, thermal movement, installation method and transitions to the pump or flexible hose must be planned before supply.
A mine transfer route does not have to use one material from pump to discharge point. A short flexible rubber section can simplify alignment and site movement near the pump. A fused HDPE trunk can carry the flow along a fixed route. Another flexible section can connect to a movable discharge point or equipment inlet.
The transitions are part of the engineering duty. Reducers, flanges, couplings and supports must avoid abrupt misalignment and excessive load. Every component should be reviewed against the same pressure, medium and connection standard.
| Product family | Best starting point | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| PVC fiber-reinforced water hose | Flexible positive-pressure water delivery, irrigation and utility water; 0.75-3 in current range | Not specified for suction or vacuum service |
| PVC spiral reinforced hose | Pump suction/discharge for water, irrigation and drainage; 1-8 in current range | Match size to vacuum condition and working pressure |
| PVC layflat discharge hose | Temporary positive-pressure dewatering and long runs; current 6 and 8 in, 50 m rolls | Not a suction hose; burst pressure is not working pressure |
| Textile cord rubber discharge hose | Sand-water, muddy water and demanding positive-pressure discharge; 2-8 in | Use the model-specific pressure; request a suction-rated construction for inlet duty |
| PE100 HDPE solid-wall pipe | Fixed or long-term trunk lines for mine drainage, raw water and engineered sand-water transfer | Requires route, fusion/transition and installation planning |
1. What is the solids concentration during normal operation and at peak loading?
2. What is the largest expected particle and is it rounded or angular?
3. What velocity is required to keep solids moving without creating unnecessary wear?
4. Will the line be flushed before shutdown, or can solids settle inside it?
5. Which sections move, bend or experience vibration?
6. Where are wear-prone bends, reducers and discharge points located?
7. How will the system be inspected, cleaned and isolated for maintenance?
Provide inside diameter or required flow, medium, solids concentration, maximum particle size, working pressure, temperature, route length, elevation difference, installation period, end connection, quantity and destination. Include pump, route and connection photos when possible.
CARCHARTECH will compare flexible rubber, PE100 pipe and compatible transitions without turning unverified abrasion, vacuum or chemical claims into assumptions.
